Jammu and Kashmir is currently witnessing its most extensive anti-terrorism operation in a decade. Security forces have initiated a widespread crackdown targeting over 100 locations across more than 60 areas. This coordinated action is aimed at disrupting networks linked to militants and their local collaborators, who are believed to be operating under the direction of handlers in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The primary objective is to dismantle the financial and logistical infrastructure that fuels terrorism in the region and combats propaganda efforts originating from across the border. Significant operations have been observed in districts like Ganderbal, Srinagar, Kulgam, Shopian, Budgam, and Kupwara. These efforts involve intensive searches and Cordon and Search Operations (CASO) to apprehend suspects and seize weapons. The operation also extends to prisons within Srinagar and Kupwara, where authorities are investigating potential communication networks used by incarcerated militants to liaunt with external handlers. This comprehensive approach underscores a strategic shift to target not only active combatants but also their support systems, aiming to restore lasting peace to the valley. Recent successes, including thwarting infiltration attempts along the Line of Control and the apprehension of individuals with suspected terror links, highlight the ongoing commitment to eradicating militancy.
