A CRPF jawan sustained leg injuries in Sukma district on Sunday afternoon following an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast. The incident occurred around 1:45 PM near Gogunda village, within the Fulbagdi police station jurisdiction. Officials reported that the jawan, part of the CRPF’s 74th Battalion, inadvertently stepped on a pressure-triggered IED during a routine area domination patrol in the forested hills. The blast caused significant injuries to his legs. Immediate first aid was administered at the scene before the injured personnel was airlifted to Raipur for specialized medical treatment. This incident highlights the ongoing threat posed by Naxalite-planted explosives in the Bastar region, where Maoists frequently use IEDs along forest paths to target security forces and, tragically, civilians have also been victims of these deadly traps.
