A CRPF jawan sustained leg injuries after a pressure Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Sunday. The incident occurred around 1:45 PM in the hilly forest region near Gogunda, falling under the Fulbagdi police station limits. Officials stated that the jawan, part of the CRPF’s 74th Battalion, inadvertently triggered the pressure IED during a routine area domination patrol. Immediate first aid was administered at the scene before the injured personnel was airlifted to Raipur for further specialized medical care. Maoist insurgents frequently employ IEDs along routes and trails in the Bastar region’s forests to target security forces conducting patrols in remote areas. These explosive devices have unfortunately also harmed civilians in the past. This incident follows a similar tragic event on June 9, where an IED blast in Sukma claimed the life of an Additional Superintendent of Police and injured two other officers.
