A CRPF jawan sustained leg injuries following an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Sunday. The incident occurred around 1:45 PM near Gogunda, under the Fulbagdi police station limits, during an area domination operation by security forces. Officials reported that the jawan, part of the CRPF’s 74th Battalion, inadvertently stepped on a pressure-activated IED, causing the explosion. He received immediate medical attention at the scene and was subsequently airlifted to Raipur for further treatment. Naxalites frequently use IEDs in the Bastar region’s forests to target security personnel on patrol. This tactic has also endangered civilians in the past. This incident follows a recent deadly IED blast in Sukma on June 9th, which claimed the life of an Additional Superintendent of Police and injured two others.
