The counting for the 45-Ghatshila (ST) Assembly seat by-election in the East Singhbhum district is underway, with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate, Somesh Chandra Soren, establishing a significant lead. After the completion of the sixth round of counting, Soren has secured 27,467 votes, putting him 6,217 votes ahead of his closest rival. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, Babulal Soren, is trailing in second place with 21,250 votes. The Jharkhand Democratic Revolutionary Front’s Ramdas Murmu is far behind with 6,061 votes. Independent candidates are also seeing low vote counts, with Dr. Shrilal Kisku receiving 431, Manas Ram Hansda 394, Vikas Hembram 264, and Manoj Kumar Singh 137. The Bharat Adivasi Party’s Panchanan Soren has garnered 239 votes, while the People’s Party of India (Democratic) candidate, Parvati Hansda, has received 106 votes. Several other independent candidates have received less than 100 votes. A total of 827 votes have been cast for None of the Above (NOTA).
