New Zealand’s star batsman, Devon Conway, has officially confirmed his departure from the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 retention announcements. Conway, who has been a key player for the franchise for the past three seasons, took to social media to express his gratitude to the CSK fanbase for their unwavering support throughout his tenure. His IPL journey with CSK began in 2022, and he quickly became a fan favorite. In his debut season, Conway showcased promising form, scoring 252 runs in seven matches with an impressive average of 42. His standout season was in 2023, where he amassed a remarkable 672 runs across 15 innings, placing him third in the season’s run-scoring charts and contributing significantly to the team’s campaign. Although he missed the entirety of IPL 2024, Conway was reacquired by CSK for Rs 6.25 crore in the mega auction. However, his performance in the recent season was below his usual standards, with 156 runs from six innings. With his release, Conway will now be exploring opportunities with other IPL franchises for the upcoming season, marking a potential new chapter in his IPL career.
