Security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district have successfully neutralized three Naxalites, who collectively carried a bounty of Rs 15 lakh. The intense encounter took place on Sunday morning in the dense forests of Tumalpad village, situated along the border of the Bhejji and Chintagufa police station jurisdictions. Officials confirmed the operation was initiated following credible intelligence regarding the Maoist presence in the region.
The three slain Naxalites have been identified as Madvi Deva, an area committee member; Podiam Gangi, commander of the Chetna Natya Mandli (CNM), a Maoist cultural wing; and Sodhi Gangi, an area committee member from the Kistaram region. The exchange of fire was prolonged, and during the subsequent search, the bodies of the three Naxals, including two women, were recovered. Authorities also seized a significant cache of weapons and explosives from the encounter site. This haul included Barrel Grenade Launchers (BGLs), a 303 rifle, VGA launchers, and various other arms and ammunition. Security forces are continuing extensive search operations in the affected area. This recent success contributes to the ongoing efforts to combat Naxalism, with security forces having neutralized 233 Naxalites in the Bastar range alone this year. The government remains committed to eradicating Naxalism nationwide.
