Serious allegations of involvement in organized crime and corruption have been leveled against former Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Gupta. A complaint was lodged at the Doranda police station by Rajiv Kumar, an advocate from the Jharkhand High Court. The complaint details startling claims of Gupta’s alleged participation in organized criminal activities and corrupt practices during his tenure as DGP, including the illicit collection of crores of rupees and managing criminal syndicates.
Advocate Rajiv Kumar’s complaint asserts that Anurag Gupta, while serving as DGP, co-founded a criminal organization known as ‘Koyalanchal Shanti Samiti’ in collaboration with notorious criminal Sujit Sinha and others. It is alleged that Gupta indirectly led this major criminal outfit from his position as DGP, orchestrating the extortion of crores from coal traders, contractors, transporters, doctors, and businessmen across the state.
The complaint further references revelations made by Babulal Marandi, Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly, during a press conference. Marandi had alleged that the Koyalanchal Shanti Samiti received arms supplied from Pakistan. The complaint also states that Anurag Gupta allegedly orchestrated a fake encounter of a jailed criminal named Aman Sahu at the behest of another criminal. The complainant has highlighted these disclosures as a grave security concern not just for Jharkhand but for the entire nation.
Rajiv Kumar also claims that Anurag Gupta misused his authority for financial gain. During his tenures as Director General (DG) of ACB and CID, Gupta allegedly facilitated the filing of false FIRs against his adversaries with the assistance of favored DSPs and police officers, including Mohammad Parvez Alam, Mohammad Nehal, and Animesh Nathani. Furthermore, allegations suggest that Gupta extorted money from government officials and engineers by issuing them notices based on fabricated complaints. Several other personnel from ACB and CID, such as Amar Kumar Pandey, Ganesh Prasad (Inspector), Anuj Mahto, Chandan Kumar, Prabhat Dubey, Birendra Kumar Mahto, Deepak Mehta, Mahadev Mahto, and Ranjit Rana (constable), are named as collaborators in these corrupt acts.
In his online complaint filed recently, advocate Rajiv Kumar has requested a thorough investigation into the alleged criminal and corrupt actions of Anurag Gupta and his associates. He urged the authorities to register an FIR under relevant sections of the law, emphasizing the critical importance of such an inquiry for the welfare of Jharkhand and the country.
