Raipur, November 18, 2025/ The 5th anniversary of the Nashamukt Bharat Abhiyan was celebrated in Chhattisgarh as a wonderful confluence of public participation and awareness. The Social Welfare Department, in coordination with various departments of the state, organized oath-taking programs on a large scale across the entire state, in which people from all walks of life participated enthusiastically.
The state-level main program was organized at Hotel Marriott in Raipur, which was attended by a large number of officials and employees from various departments, including Shri Lokesh Kawadia, Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation, Shri Bhuvanesh Yadav, Secretary of the Social Welfare Department, and Smt. Roktima Yadav, Director.
On this occasion, all participants took an oath for a drug-free India and expressed their collective commitment to eradicate addiction from society.
The programs organized across the state have given new energy to this national campaign. 24,749 participants took the oath at 543 locations, and 69,356 participants took the oath in 505 programs in universities and colleges. In the same sequence, 3,98,675 students and teachers in 7,452 schools across the state resolved to build a drug-free society.
In 9,355 programs organized for health workers and self-help groups, 1,20,410 participants pledged to quit drugs and inspire others. In addition, 57,570 people took the oath in 2,103 other events, further strengthening the campaign. Thus, a total of 6,70,760 citizens took a pledge to build a healthy and safe society through online and offline means at 19,958 locations.
Notably, the main national program for the 5th anniversary of the Nashamukt Bharat Abhiyan was organized by the Government of India at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar on November 18. The live broadcast of this program was widely watched in Chhattisgarh, as in the rest of the country. The broadcast was collectively viewed in all districts, departments, government offices, and educational institutions of the state, connecting more and more people to the national program.
The Nashamukt Bharat Abhiyan is an important national initiative operated by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, with the aim of protecting people from social evils such as drug addiction, tobacco, and alcohol, and keeping youth away from the tendency of addiction. Under the campaign, public awareness programs, activities in educational institutions, community participation, counseling, treatment, and rehabilitation services are continuously being strengthened to help affected individuals return to normal life.
The Social Welfare Department has taken a comprehensive and effective public campaign forward in the direction of de-addiction through multi-departmental coordination by linking education, health, panchayat and rural development, women and child development, urban administration, youth services, and many other departments to the campaign.
Through such large public participation, Chhattisgarh has sent a strong message at the national level that the state is fully committed to building a drug-free, healthy, and aware society. Awareness, counseling, and community-based activities will continue in the state under the Nashamukt Bharat Abhiyan, enabling Chhattisgarh to move continuously towards becoming a drug-free and progressive state.
