A ‘Janata Darbar’ was held at the District Collectorate in Simdega, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kanchan Singh. The event provided a platform for residents from urban and remote rural areas of the district to present their various concerns. The Deputy Commissioner listened attentively to each individual’s issues and promptly forwarded relevant matters to departmental officials for swift action. Applications covered a broad spectrum, including requests for caste certificates, the return of a missing youth from Maharashtra, road construction, complaints of women’s harassment, ensuring electricity and water for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana beneficiaries, halting illegal construction on purchased land, issuing death certificates, correcting land records, ensuring shop rent payments, and resolving numerous land disputes. Anita Kerketta from Kurdeg block sought a caste certificate, explaining her family’s long-standing residency and the challenges faced due to land record issues, impacting her ability to apply for educational and job opportunities. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Additional Collector and Kurdeg Circle Officer to address this urgently. Vimala Devi from Kolibira block requested assistance in bringing back Suraj Singh, a missing youth from Maharashtra. She reported his disappearance to the police earlier and learned he is now working in Ahmednagar district. The Deputy Commissioner assured necessary coordination and action. A significant number of villagers attended the darbar, along with officials like Additional Collector Gyanendra and representatives from various departments.
