Former President Donald Trump has again asserted that his administration’s tariff policies played a significant role in de-escalating international conflicts. Posting on his social media platform, Trump claimed that the United States was accumulating “TRILLIONS of Dollars in Tariffs and Investment Dollars” due to these trade measures.
He specifically stated, “I have stopped 5 of the eight WARS directly because of the threat of Tariffs if they don’t stop fighting or, better yet, if they start.” This assertion suggests a direct link between economic leverage and the cessation of hostilities.
This recent statement echoes previous claims made by Trump, including his assertion that tariffs helped ease military tensions between India and Pakistan in May. However, official acknowledgment from India regarding any such role in a ceasefire agreement has not been reported.
Furthermore, Trump has reportedly set a November 27 deadline for Ukraine to respond to a 28-point peace proposal intended to resolve the conflict with Russia. This comes in the wake of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighting difficult choices facing his nation. Trump indicated that this deadline could be extended if negotiations show promising progress, calling November 27 an “appropriate time” to see movement.
