FBI Director Kash Patel is facing scrutiny over the deployment of federal SWAT officers to safeguard his girlfriend, aspiring country singer Alexis Wilkins, during a public performance. The incident, as reported by The New York Times, saw Patel direct two FBI SWAT team members to provide security for Wilkins as she sang the national anthem at the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) annual convention in Atlanta. These officers, typically engaged in high-stakes tactical operations like hostage rescues, were tasked with ensuring Wilkins’ safety at the Georgia World Congress Center. After assessing the venue and finding no immediate danger, the officers departed before the performance concluded. Both Wilkins and Patel reportedly observed the officers’ exit, leading Patel to later question the team commander about the decision to leave his girlfriend unprotected. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the communication surrounding the officers’ movements.
