In a scathing indictment, the leader of the opposition and BJP state president, Babulal Marandi, has accused the Jharkhand government of creating new crimes to conceal existing ones. Marandi stated that the current government and the system have developed a habit of manufacturing fresh offenses to mask the true extent of criminal activity in the state. Recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) actions in the coal mafia’s domain in Dhanbad have uncovered startling evidence of illicit operations. However, a deeply concerning development is the alleged directive from some high-ranking police officials, who are reportedly benefiting from the black money generated by the coal trade, to eliminate key foot soldiers of the coal mafia permanently. These efforts are purportedly aimed at silencing individuals being interrogated by the ED, thereby preventing the truth from surfacing. Marandi warned that the ED must exercise extreme caution, as the state’s reality is that those who suppress the truth, rather than those who speak it, hold power. When political power, the administrative system, and criminal elements align, the suppression of justice becomes a mere formality.
