In a groundbreaking feat of human endurance, an elite Indian Army mountaineering team has successfully summited Mount Kangto, a formidable peak in the Eastern Himalayas standing at a daunting 7,042 meters. This historic ascent marks the first time the ‘unconquerable’ mountain, located in Arunachal Pradesh, has been conquered. The 18-member team braved the most challenging Southern route, a path previously known for repelling all attempts. Lieutenant General RC Tiwari of the Eastern Command formally acknowledged the team’s extraordinary courage, professionalism, and perseverance upon their successful return. The expedition, which began on November 3rd, was fraught with extreme dangers, including thin air, sub-zero temperatures, treacherous icy ridgelines, deep crevasses, and near-vertical ice walls. The Army praised the climbers for embodying grit, discipline, teamwork, and an indomitable spirit, demonstrating that ‘nothing is impossible.’ This landmark achievement not only pays tribute to the majestic Himalayas but also underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to pushing human limits and achieving operational excellence.
