Ranveer Singh’s highly anticipated film, ‘Dhurandhar,’ has made a thunderous debut at the box office, exceeding all expectations and marking his biggest opening day ever. The movie hit theaters on December 5th and has immediately captured audience attention, raking in impressive numbers.
Industry analysts report that ‘Dhurandhar’ grossed a remarkable ₹27 crore on its first day, significantly outperforming previous benchmarks. This opening figure even surpasses the initial collections of major films, showcasing the star power of Ranveer Singh and the film’s broad appeal. The Hindi market saw a healthy overall occupancy of 33.81% for the film. While morning shows had a moderate start, the evening and night shows witnessed a dramatic surge in attendance, climbing to nearly 60%, a clear indication of positive word-of-mouth.
Experts had initially projected an opening between ₹15-18 crore, making ‘Dhurandhar’s’ actual performance a delightful surprise and a testament to its strong reception. This success positions ‘Dhurandhar’ as Ranveer Singh’s highest-grossing opening film to date, eclipsing hits like ‘Padmaavat’ (₹24 crore opening) and ‘Simmba’ (₹20.72 crore opening).
The film is also holding its ground as the second-highest opening of the year, trailing only ‘Chhaava,’ which debuted with ₹31 crore. Directed by Aditya Dhar, ‘Dhurandhar’ is a thrilling spy narrative starring Ranveer Singh alongside a stellar cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal. The film’s high-octane plot, centered around Ranveer’s character infiltrating a dangerous terror network, coupled with its intense action sequences, has clearly resonated with viewers, driving strong theatrical turnout. Discussions are already underway regarding its potential OTT release, with speculation pointing towards Netflix around late January 2026, following its successful theatrical run, though an official confirmation is still pending.
