According to the intention of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, under the guidance of Forest and Climate Change Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar, the work of conservation and promotion of “Devgudis”, the center of faith of forest dwellers in remote forest areas of the state, is going on at a rapid pace. In this context, work was done in 63 Devgudis under the Bijapur Forest Division in the year 2018-19 till 2020-21 for their Boundary Wall and Chainlink Fencing etc. In this regard, Chief Conservator of Forests Jagdalpur Shri Mohammad Shahid informed that an amount of Rs. 2 crore 82 lakh was approved under CAMPA (Chhattisgarh Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority) for their development work. Conservation and promotion of Devgudis has strengthened the faith and belief of the local forest dwellers. Due to which the local forest dwellers are engaged in providing mutual cooperation to the forest department for the development of forests in the works of illegal logging, prevention of encroachment and fire protection etc. It is noteworthy that the Bijapur forest division is a tribal dominated area. Various types of local beliefs as well as many gods and goddesses are worshiped in the tribes living here. The places of worship of these deities are located in a remote forest area. Which they consider as a holy place and do not do any kind of illegal logging, encroachment and other prohibited work there. Entry of outsiders is prohibited in these places. Their sentiments remain attached to these places. According to the intention of the state government, the work of conservation and promotion of Devgudis is being done to maintain these beliefs of the local villagers and forest dwellers.
