AAP (Cong -2) ke rang mein bhang: BJP Sweeps Important Elections in Assam
We must give ongratulation to the the people of Assam for giving a major victory BJP in urban body elections. I am personally pleased to hear the welcoming news comes from the Assam which is touching the height of Himalayas.
BJP was today Feb 12, 2015 sweeps in the municipal elections in Assam winning nearly half of the 743 wards and the 74 municipal boards and town committees. swept the municipal elections in Assam. The results of the polls will be interpreted by parties as an indicator of popularity ahead of the state elections next year. Delhi spurned the BJP with relentless force this week. The Aam Aadmi Party swept the capital, winning 95% of the seats in the assembly.
Of nearly 74 town and municipal committees, the BJP won 43, Congress in 17, AGP in two, NCP in one while there was a tie between two parties in four and no majority in 10 bodies, he said.  Five years ago, the Congress had breezed through the election for urban bodies.
More than 73 per cent of an estimated 14 lakh voters exercised their franchise in the polls held on February 9 to decide the fate of 2,900 candidates.
“This Clean sweep in Assam for BJP in local body elections indicates that people of Assam have decided to elect BJP in upcoming assembly polls in 2016.”
The fight was primarily between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress in the most urban local bodies consisting of 32 municipal boards and 42 town committees. Both Congress and BJP are working hard to be in power in the upcoming Assembly Elections in 2016 in Assam.
On one hand where AGP is taking this election as a stage for their comeback, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) is trying its level best to make its presence felt in its maiden battle in the urban civic body elections.
