Renault is preparing to reintroduce the Duster to the Indian market with an all-new generation, with a potential launch anticipated either this year or in 2026. The company is likely to offer both a 5-seater variant and a 7-seater model, mirroring the Bigster and Boreal versions sold in Europe. Recent spy shots originating from Brazil offer a clear look at the redesigned front fascia of the SUV. The vehicle, though camouflaged, reveals a continuous array integrating the front grille and headlights. A prominent Renault logo is centrally positioned on the grille.
The styling of the Indian version, as observed during testing in Bangalore, mirrors the international model. Distinctive features include quirky V-shaped tail lamps and a notched design roof-mounted spoiler, providing a sporty profile. The tailgate showcases a contoured design, accompanied by thick wheel arch cladding, a shark fin antenna, roof rails, a rear washer and wiper, and a raked windshield, all similar to the European version.
The new Duster is built on the CMF-B modular platform, also utilized by Dacia, Renault, and Nissan vehicles. The upcoming Duster is expected to offer three primary powertrain options: a 1.6-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine with two electric motors, powered by a 1.2 kWh battery pack, producing 138 hp; a 1.2-litre petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system, generating 128.2 hp; and a 1.0-litre petrol-LPG dual-fuel engine, producing 98.6 hp, paired with a 6-speed transmission and powering all four wheels.
The new-generation Duster boasts an array of features, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital cluster, wireless smartphone mirroring, OTA updates, and dual-zone AC. Safety features include 6 airbags, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, a tire pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, and a 360-degree camera. Furthermore, ADAS features such as autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist, and blind spot monitoring may also be available. The current Dacia Duster holds a 3-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests.
