Recent government-led Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms have prompted significant changes in automobile taxation, leading to price reductions across various vehicle models. The revised GST rates now consider factors such as vehicle size, engine capacity, and hybrid capabilities. Several prominent automakers have responded by offering substantial discounts to consumers. Mercedes-Benz India has announced price cuts across its entire range, reflecting the new GST 2.0 framework. This framework, effective from September 22, 2025, consolidates passenger car taxation under a flat 40% GST, replacing the previous system. Electric vehicles continue to benefit from a concessional GST rate, supporting the promotion of sustainable mobility. Specific price reductions include the GLA 220d 4MATIC AMG Line, now priced at Rs 52.70 lakh (down from Rs 56.50 lakh), and the S 450 4MATIC, priced at Rs 1.88 crore (down from Rs 1.99 crore). Skoda India is also providing attractive festive deals and GST-linked benefits. The Skoda Kodiaq offers GST benefits of up to Rs 3.3 lakh, plus festive discounts up to Rs 2.5 lakh. Mahindra is offering discounts on its models, including the Bolero and XUV700. Toyota has also reduced prices across its lineup, with savings on models such as the Glanza and Fortuner. Additionally, Hyundai has adjusted prices, providing benefits to consumers, as well.
