Citroen India, the French automobile manufacturer, has announced significant price cuts across its entire product portfolio. The company has decided to pass on the benefits of the recently implemented GST 2.0 directly to its customers. These new prices will be effective from September 22, 2025. This decision not only makes Citroen vehicles more affordable but also promises to intensify competition in the Indian passenger vehicle market.
**Model-Wise Price Reductions:**
Customers can expect savings on Citroen vehicles following the new GST cuts:
* **C3 and C3X:** These models will see price reductions of up to ₹84,000. The starting price for the C3 now begins at just ₹4.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
* **Aircross SUV:** Both the 5-seater and 7-seater variants of the Aircross SUV will offer savings of up to ₹50,000.
* **Basalt and Basalt X:** These models, equipped with a robust design, advanced connectivity, and the in-car assistant CARA, will have a starting price of ₹7.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
* **C5 Aircross SUV:** The premium segment SUV offers the most significant relief, with the Shine variant becoming nearly ₹2.7 lakh cheaper, now priced at ₹37.32 lakh (ex-showroom).
**Company Statement:**
Kumar Presh, Director of Automotive Brands at Stellantis India, stated that they welcome the GST reduction on passenger vehicles, which will make safe and modern mobility more accessible in India. Citroen is committed to passing on this benefit entirely to its customers, making their vehicles even more affordable, particularly during the festive season, and attracting new buyers.
**Demand Expected to Surge During Festive Season:**
This announcement comes at a time when the festive season in India is in full swing. With occasions like Onam, Anant Chaturdashi, Navratri, Eid, and Diwali, customers are inclined to purchase new cars. Citroen’s initiative is expected to directly boost sales and increase foot traffic in showrooms.
**Significance of the Step:**
GST 2.0 aims to simplify the tax system and make mass-market vehicles more affordable. Citroen, which recently launched models like the Basalt X and C3X, is preparing to strengthen its foothold in India’s compact and mid-size SUV segments through this price reduction.
