Maruti Suzuki’s new SUV, scheduled for launch on September 3, 2025, has had its name leaked online even before its official unveiling. The car, internally codenamed Y17, will officially be called Victoris. According to reports, this leak originated from Maruti Suzuki’s official website, where the name briefly appeared in Google search results, confirming the identity of the new compact SUV. The company plans to price it affordably to cater to the middle class.
Maruti Victoris SUV
This car will be sold through Maruti’s Arena dealerships and will be positioned in the SUV lineup between the Brezza and Grand Vitara. The model is based on Suzuki’s Global-C platform, also used in the Grand Vitara. This platform sharing is expected to reduce production costs, and the Victoris will incorporate many features already present in the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder.
Maruti Victoris SUV Competition
In terms of dimensions, the Victoris might be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara, which is 4,345 mm in length. This will put it in direct competition with the Hyundai Creta (4,330 mm) and Kia Seltos (4,365 mm). It will also face competition from upcoming cars like the 2026 Kia Seltos facelift, Skoda Kushaq facelift, and Volkswagen Taigun facelift. The Victoris will need to stand out in terms of space, features, and price. The longer body is expected to provide more boot space, which will likely be appreciated by consumers.
Maruti Victoris SUV Engine
The Maruti Victoris will share its engine options with the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. These include a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 103 PS and 139 Nm. This engine will be available with both a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox and will also offer the Suzuki All Grip All-Wheel Drive (AWD) option. A 1.5-liter strong hybrid powertrain with an output of 115.5 PS, paired with an e-CVT gearbox, will also be available. To further increase its popularity, the Victoris will also come in a CNG variant, which will generate 88 PS in CNG mode.
