Honda, which entered the electric two-wheeler market at the beginning of the year, has completed six months of production and sales of its two e-scooters, Activa e and QC1. Between February and July 2025, the company manufactured a total of 11,168 units and sold 5,173 units. Deliveries began in March 2025.
The Activa e is an electric scooter with a swappable battery system designed for personal commuting. In contrast, the Honda QC1 features a fixed battery and is primarily designed for gig-workers (delivery partners) and use in affordable cities. In the first 5 months, Honda sold a total of 4,950 units, with 4,252 QC1s and only 698 Activa e scooters sold. This means the QC1 accounted for 86% of the sales.
The Activa e is a stylish and advanced electric scooter, but its future depends on how quickly Honda expands its battery swapping network. It is more stylish in appearance than the petrol Activa. It is offered in two variants. The standard version is priced at ₹1,17,428 ex-showroom, and the RoadSync Duo version is priced at ₹1,52,028 ex-showroom. It claims a range of 102 km and a top speed of 80 km/h, accelerating from 0 to 60 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The biggest drawback is that the battery cannot be charged at home; it can only be swapped at swapping stations, which is why sales are slow. There are currently only over 80 swapping stations in Bengaluru. They are now also starting in Delhi and Mumbai.
Meanwhile, the QC1 is gradually gaining a foothold in the market due to its low price and the convenience of home charging. The QC1 is priced starting from ₹90,022 ex-showroom, making it the cheapest Japanese electric scooter in India. It claims a range of 80 km. In terms of performance, it can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in 9.4 seconds. It has a top speed of 50 km/h. Currently, this electric scooter can be purchased in cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Chandigarh.
