KTM is reportedly developing a new 500cc twin-cylinder platform, with an adventure and naked bike already in the works. Now, a faired RC model has also been seen undergoing testing. Motorrad magazine’s images indicate the RC is nearing production. The engine is suspected to come from CFMoto, as is the primary chassis. The exhaust downpipes on the test model closely resemble those on CFMoto bikes. This suggests the potential for a KTM RC 490. The current RC 390 still uses an older 373cc engine, fueling speculation that KTM is looking for a new engine for the next-generation RC. The possibility of an India launch for the RC 490 is currently uncertain. This uncertainty raises questions about its potential availability and pricing in the Indian market, especially if it’s manufactured by CFMoto and whether it will be assembled locally.
