Maruti Suzuki has initiated the production of its first electric car, the e-Vitara. This marks not only a first for Maruti Suzuki but also for Suzuki Motor Corporation as a whole. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the roll-out ceremony of the e-Vitara from Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Gujarat. The company has announced that this electric SUV will be exported to over 100 countries worldwide.
The e-Vitara is expected to launch in India on September 3rd. With this launch, Maruti Suzuki will enter a segment already dominated by companies like Tata Motors, MG, and Mahindra. Although Maruti is entering this segment later, the company aims to become a major player, and the e-Vitara will play a key role in this. This made-in-India SUV will be sent to almost every continent in the world, excluding the Arctic and Antarctica. This step is a major milestone for both the Indian auto industry and the company’s global strategy.
