The Maruti Suzuki Jimny, which debuted at the Auto Expo 2023, has become the second-highest exporting car from India. Launched in India on June 7, 2023, it aimed to attract customers seeking lifestyle off-roader vehicles. The Jimny is a body-on-frame 4X4 SUV specifically designed for off-roading, directly competing with the Mahindra Thar in the Indian market. The three-door model has achieved significant success in the global market due to its design and off-roading capabilities. Maruti Suzuki initiated the production of the three-door Jimny at its Gurugram plant in November 2020, primarily for export to left-hand and right-hand-drive markets in Africa and the Middle East. The five-door Jimny, a longer version of the original Suzuki off-roader, was developed specifically for India to comfortably accommodate four adults and attract more customers. It is sold through the company’s premium Nexa channel and is produced at Maruti Suzuki India’s Gurugram plant, which serves as the global mother production hub for this SUV. The Jimny’s 5-door version was launched in the domestic market in October 2023 and was subsequently exported to Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. The Jimny has received an outstanding response from Mexico, Australia, and South Africa.
