Mahindra is developing a facelift for the Thar three-door model. The Thar, a popular choice for off-road enthusiasts for the past five years, is set to receive updates to keep it competitive. Spy shots of a test mule reveal a new front fascia, suggesting significant design changes. The facelift may incorporate features seen in the Thar Roxx. With Mahindra planning multiple new launches, including a recently spotted Bolero, the refreshed Thar could debut around the festive season.
Inside, the steering wheel is expected to remain similar, potentially paired with the 10.2-inch TFT screen found in the Thar Roxx. While the test vehicle lacked a sunroof, the final production model might include modern features such as ADAS and ventilated seats. The absence of a 4×4 transfer case gear selector in the test vehicle suggests it was a RWD model.
Exterior modifications will include a redesigned front fascia with a revised grille, headlights, tail lamps, and tweaked fenders, aligning the Thar’s appearance with the Thar Roxx. The engine options could mirror those of the Thar Roxx, including a 2.0-liter turbo petrol, a 1.5-liter diesel, and a 2.2-liter diesel engine. Transmission choices are likely to be a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
