Significant price reductions have been implemented on several cars following the GST 2.0 reforms introduced by the government. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, a sub-4 meter car, has seen the most anticipated price cut. The Dzire is one of the top-selling passenger cars in its segment, rivalling even the Hyundai Creta in sales figures. The price of this vehicle has been reduced by approximately ₹80,000 due to changes in the tax slabs under the GST reforms.
The new tax rates have decreased the prices of all categories of cars. Hatchback cars, for example, are experiencing savings of approximately ₹40,000, while the benefits are remarkable for premium luxury SUVs, reaching up to ₹30 lakh. Experts in the automotive industry are referring to these tax reforms as the most substantial price cut in the history of the Indian automotive industry.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire benefits the most, with a price reduction of up to ₹88,000, especially on its ZXI Plus top variant. Similar trends were observed in the Maruti Swift hatchback, where the top-spec variants received the largest GST price cuts, unlike other hatchbacks from the company. The Dzire’s total price cut ranges from ₹58,000 to ₹88,000, varying by variant. It is available in both manual and AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) options. The price cut on AMT variants ranges from ₹72,000 to ₹88,000.
The new generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire has received several major design and feature updates. It now includes a new Z-series 1.2-liter naturally aspirated 3-cylinder petrol engine, which replaces the older 4-cylinder engine. This car has achieved a five-star safety rating in both Global NCAP (GNCAP) and Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) tests.
In addition, the Dzire is now available with a factory-fitted CNG kit, working in conjunction with the petrol engine. The car is already quite popular in the taxi segment, but with upgrades and GST rate cuts, demand is expected to increase among private buyers as well. Sales are expected to accelerate further with festive season offers.
