Maruti Suzuki’s highly anticipated mid-size SUV, Victoris, has been launched. This SUV is positioned as a flagship product under Maruti’s Arena brand. Initially rumored to be named Escudo and featuring a 3-seater layout, it is, in reality, a 5-seater SUV designed to compete with vehicles like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, and Tata Harrier. Maruti Suzuki has designated it as a ‘HALO’ product, incorporating several ‘first-time’ technologies and unique features. Here’s a look at these key highlights.
Maruti Suzuki’s First Level-2 ADAS SUV
The country’s largest car manufacturer has previously avoided Level-2 ADAS. However, with the introduction of the ADAS L2 safety suite in the Victoris, it becomes the first Maruti Suzuki car to offer this technology. It includes emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and several other active safety features.
CNG Tank Under the Floor
Tata and Hyundai have long been utilizing dual-cylinder CNG technology. Customers have been requesting a similar offering from Maruti, and this has now become a reality. The CNG tank in the Victoris is installed under the floor of the boot, providing more space in the trunk.
Powered Tailgate with Gesture Control
Another first for Maruti Suzuki is the powered tailgate. The Victoris’s boot lid can be opened with a kick-to-open gesture or via the key fob. The actual boot volume has not been disclosed yet, but Maruti has focused on the boot space, similar to the Grand Vitara.
Largest Display Yet in a Maruti
Maruti has also raised the bar in terms of display technology. The SmartPlay Pro X touchscreen is now the largest to feature in any Maruti car. It includes connected car features, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, and OTA updates. The instrument cluster has also gone digital, featuring a 10.25-inch LCD screen.
8-Speaker Surround Sound System
Competitors often feature fancy sound systems from brands like JBL, Harman, and Bose. Maruti previously offered a maximum of a 6-speaker sound system, but the Victoris sets new standards. It features an Infinity 8-speaker surround sound system with Dolby Atmos 5.1 channel support.
