Maruti Suzuki, the largest car manufacturer in India, announced a price reduction on several of its vehicles. This move aims to pass on the benefits of the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate reduction to its customers. The new prices, effective September 22, 2025, are expected to boost sales during the festive season.
The price cuts will not only reflect the reduced GST but will also include additional discounts offered by the company.
Price reductions include:
* Up to ₹1.29 lakh off on the S-Presso.
* Up to ₹1.07 lakh off on the Alto K10.
* Up to ₹46,000 off on the Ertiga.
* Up to ₹1.12 lakh off on the Fronx and Brezza (SUVs).
The discounts are particularly significant for smaller cars. For example, the S-Presso will see a price reduction of 12.6% to 24%, Alto K10 will see a reduction of 10.6% to 20%, Celerio will see a reduction of 8.6% to 17% and WagonR will see a reduction of 8.7% to 14%.
Maruti Suzuki’s marketing and sales executive stated that the sales of smaller cars declined because of their perceived high prices. The reduction in GST, changes in tax slabs, and lower interest rates are expected to improve the situation. The company aims to encourage two-wheeler users to transition to cars.
With only 34 cars per 1,000 people in India, Maruti Suzuki, as a market leader, is taking the initiative to make cars more accessible and increase car ownership across the country.
The passenger vehicle sales have been declining for the past few months, with an 8.8% drop in August 2025. The company believes that the new prices will stabilize the entry-level segment and encourage customers to purchase cars.
The company also promised that customers will benefit from the GST reduction on car service and maintenance parts, reducing the total cost of ownership.
