The Maruti Suzuki WagonR, a popular car in the Indian market, is seeing price changes due to GST 2.0. The tax on small cars has been reduced from 28% + tax to just 18%. The WagonR is one of Maruti Suzuki’s best-selling cars. Customers can save up to ₹64,000 depending on the variant, fuel type, and transmission chosen. The new prices will be effective from September 22, 2025. The base variant’s ex-showroom price starts from ₹5.79 lakh. After GST, the entry-level variant price is approximately ₹4.99 lakh (ex-showroom), showing a reduction of ₹79,600. The car offers features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, electric ORVMs, 14-inch alloy wheels, electronic stability program, rear parking sensors, and central locking. The price changes are due to GST 2.0, where the tax rate has been reduced for small cars less than 4 meters long, running on petrol or CNG, and with an engine capacity of less than approximately 1,200 cc. The new tax rate is only 18%, compared to the previous 28% GST and cess. The engine options include a K10C 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine that generates 49.0 kW (66 hp) and 89.0 Nm of torque, while the K12C 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine generates 66 kW (88 hp) and 113 Nm of torque. Both engines come with a 5-speed manual transmission, but customers can also opt for a 5-speed automated manual unit.
