Maruti Suzuki recently unveiled the all-new SUV, Victoris, with its launch and price announcement expected in the coming weeks. The Victoris is poised to compete directly with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in the Indian market. Notably, the Maruti Victoris, equipped with ADAS, has received a 5-star safety rating immediately upon its introduction. The Bharat NCAP awarded the Victoris a 5-star rating in its crash tests, evaluating several variants, including the ZXI+ Strong Hybrid eCVT, ZXI+(O) Strong Hybrid eCVT, and ZXI+(O) 6AT. This rating applies to all variants of the SUV.
The new Maruti Suzuki SUV is built on Suzuki’s new Global C-platform, incorporating various features. It will be sold through Maruti Suzuki Arena outlets, catering to general consumers. The company aims to strengthen Maruti Suzuki’s position in the Indian passenger vehicle market and capitalize on the rising demand for utility vehicles. The SUV incorporates ADAS and numerous safety features.
Safety Assist technology is a key highlight of the Victoris, and Maruti Suzuki has made it standard across all variants. It includes Electronic Stability Control (ESC), a pedestrian protection system, side head protection airbags, and seatbelt reminders for all rows. Additionally, advanced driver aids are available.
In terms of adult safety, the Victoris performed admirably, scoring 31.66 out of 32 points. It achieved 15.66 out of 16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and a perfect 16 out of 16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test. Furthermore, it received an OK rating in the side pole impact test, showcasing the SUV’s robustness. Standard features encompass front airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners, load limiters, and side head curtain airbags. These features collectively demonstrated excellent passenger safety and a strong body structure during testing.
The Victoris also demonstrated strong performance in child safety, scoring 43 out of 49 points. It earned a perfect 24 out of 24 in dynamic assessment, confirming that child dummies remained fully protected during crash simulations. The Child Restraint System (CRS) installation category also yielded a perfect score of 12 out of 12, confirming compatibility with ISOFIX and i-Size systems (like Dualfix 5Z with Vario Base). While the vehicle assessment score was 7 out of 13, indicating room for improvement in child safety features, the dummies representing 18-month and 3-year-old children received good safety ratings.
