Mercedes-Benz has reached a significant milestone in the production of its iconic G-Class SUV. The Graz plant in Austria has completed the production of its 600,000th G-Class. This historic unit is a G 580 model, which also incorporates EQ technology. It is finished in Obsidian Black Metallic color. Launched in 1979, the G-Class continues to evolve in its style and performance.
The G-Class design has evolved, but its iconic look remains. Features like round headlights, a boxy body design, and an exposed spare wheel at the rear give it a classic appearance. The new G-Class offers both powerful features and a stunning look. The G 580 EQ model is fully electric, which enhances its exterior.
Mercedes-Benz has transformed the G-Class from a driver’s car into a customizable luxury offering. Under the MANUFAKTUR program, launched in 2019, customers can customize their G-Class to their liking. From 2024, over 1 million combinations are available, including nearly 20,000 paint options.
Notably, nearly 90 percent of customers have selected features under the MANUFAKTUR program. The G-Class is renowned for its off-roading capabilities, featuring all-wheel drive, 100% locking differentials, and a robust ladder-frame chassis. It now includes advanced driver assistance systems and premium infotainment features.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is a 5-seater, full-size SUV, with prices starting from ₹2.55 crore. It comes in 2 variants with a 2,925 cc engine and 1 automatic transmission option. The G-Class has 9 airbags and 241 mm of ground clearance (unladen). This car is available in 5 color options.
