Since its launch in 2015, the Hyundai Creta has consistently challenged vehicles in the mid-size SUV segment. To compete with the Creta, Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors are preparing to launch their major contenders – the Maruti Victoris and Tata Sierra. The Victoris is expected to arrive just before Diwali, while the Sierra (with an electric powertrain) will be available for sale in October or November 2025.
Maruti Suzuki’s all-new Victoris SUV comes in 6 trim variants – LXI, VXI, ZXI, ZXI (O), ZXI+, and ZXI+ (O) and will be sold through Arena dealerships. If you want to buy this car, you can book it for just 11 thousand rupees.
The Victoris is Maruti Suzuki’s first car to feature Level 2 ADAS, a Dolby Atmos audio system, and an underbody CNG tank. This SUV will come in three engine options – a 103 bhp, 1.5-liter mild hybrid petrol, a 116 bhp, 1.5-liter strong hybrid, and an 89 bhp, 1.5-liter petrol CNG.
Speaking of the Tata Sierra EV, this car is set to return to India in the next 2-3 months. This SUV features Tata’s new design, technology-equipped interior, and several powertrain options. Initially, the Sierra will be offered with a fully electric powertrain, followed by the launch of its ICE model in early 2026. The electric version may take the powertrain from the Harrier EV, which comes with two battery pack options and a QWD system.
The ICE-based Tata Sierra will have the brand’s brand new 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and 2.0L diesel engines. Later, a turbocharged 1.5L petrol engine will also be introduced. This SUV is likely to feature a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, ventilated and powered front seats, a built-in dashcam, Level-2 ADAS, and other features.
