The demand for electric vehicles (EVs) is surging in India, prompting major companies like Mahindra, BYD, and Tata Motors to gear up for the launch of new models in their EV lineups. Maruti Suzuki is also preparing to launch its first electric car soon. Several new models are expected to hit the market in 2025. Here’s a look at some of the upcoming EVs and their expected range on a single charge.
BYD Atto 2:
This mid-size electric SUV was recently spotted during testing. Sales are expected to commence by the end of 2025. Internationally, this SUV is available with 45.1kWh and 51.1kWh battery options, offering a range of up to 410 kilometers on a single charge. It will compete with vehicles like the Mahindra BE 6 and Hyundai Creta Electric.
Tata Sierra EV:
Tata Motors showcased the production version of this car at the Auto Expo 2025. The electric version of this car is expected to launch around the festive season, with the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) version following later. The car may feature 65kWh and 75kWh battery options, similar to the Harrier EV, and can offer a range of up to 627 kilometers on a single charge.
Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara:
The e-Vitara from Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch soon in India, with the first production unit scheduled to roll out on August 26. This electric SUV may be launched with two battery options: 61.1kWh and 48.9kWh. The variant with the larger battery could offer a range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge.
Mahindra XEV 7e:
This new 7-seater electric SUV from Mahindra is expected to launch by the end of 2025. It may be offered with two battery options: 59kWh and 79kWh, and will offer a range of over 600 kilometers on a full charge.
