TVS is poised to launch an affordable electric scooter in India soon. The company had previously trademarked an electric scooter named ‘Orbiter.’ Now, the domestic two-wheeler manufacturer is gearing up to release the production version of this electric scooter. The TVS Orbiter electric scooter is scheduled to launch in India on August 28th. Upon launch, it will be positioned below the TVS iQube, the most successful electric scooter from this auto company.
TVS currently sells the iQube electric scooter range starting at approximately ₹1 lakh, going up to ₹1.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The upcoming TVS Orbiter will be priced lower than the iQube, making it a more affordable option. This will establish the new electric scooter as the brand’s new entry-level electric scooter. Its price is expected to be less than ₹1 lakh. Upon launch, the TVS Orbiter will compete with electric scooters like the Bajaj Chetak and Ola S1 X.
This scooter is launching at a time which could boost demand. It is being introduced in the Indian market just before the festive season. The festive season is considered one of the best times for vehicle manufacturers to increase their sales in the Indian automobile market. TVS expects a surge in sales with the launch of this new electric scooter.
TVS has also patented the design of a new electric scooter in Indonesia, and the sketches suggest that it will be a premium-looking model. This could also be the new Orbiter scooter. However, TVS has not officially confirmed anything. This electric scooter, as recorded in the patent applications, comes with sleek styling, large wheels, and a swingarm-mounted motor. It features sleek LED daytime running lights, square LED headlights, LED tail lights, a visor, a dual-color paint theme, and front disc brakes.
