If you’re in the market for a new car, several models are slated to hit the market in September 2025. This timing, just before the Diwali festival, is a prime period for car companies to introduce new vehicles, aiming to attract potential buyers. Among the anticipated launches are the Vinfast VF6 and VF7, the Maruti Escudo SUV, the Mahindra Thar Facelift, the Citroen Basalt X, and the Volvo EX30 EV.
**Vinfast VF6 and VF7:**
Vietnamese EV company Vinfast will officially begin sales in India from September 6, 2025. The VF6 is expected to feature a 59.6 kWh battery, offering a range of approximately 480 km. The VF7 will come with a 70.8 kWh battery, providing a range of about 450 km. Production of both electric SUVs will take place at the plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, potentially marking a significant step for the Indian EV market.
**Maruti Escudo: Maruti’s New Mid-Size SUV:**
Maruti Suzuki plans to unveil its new mid-size SUV, the Escudo, on September 3. This SUV is expected to be larger than the Grand Vitara and will be built on the same platform. A strong hybrid engine option will be available. The car will be sold through the Arena dealership network. The expected starting price is around ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom).
**Mahindra Thar Facelift:**
Mahindra is expected to launch the facelifted version of its popular off-road SUV, the Thar (3-door), in the first week of September. It will include new exterior updates and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The engine options are likely to remain unchanged. This SUV is expected to feature more modern and advanced features.
**Citroen Basalt X:**
Citroen India initiated pre-bookings for its new car, the Basalt X, on August 22. Pre-bookings can be made with a token amount of ₹21,000. The car is expected to launch in mid-September. It will feature new color schemes and advanced features. The engine will likely be the same 1.2L turbo petrol engine, paired with manual and automatic gearboxes.
**Volvo EX30: Volvo’s Most Affordable EV:**
This is being touted as Volvo’s most affordable electric car to date. It will have a 69 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 480 km (WLTP). A 150 kW DC fast charger can charge the battery to full capacity in just 25 minutes.
