The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has released a report indicating a stable performance across all vehicle segments in May 2025. Total domestic sales for Passenger Vehicles, Three-Wheelers, Two-Wheelers, and Quadricycles reached 2,012,969 units. While the two-wheeler and passenger vehicle segments performed strongly, three-wheelers and quadricycles experienced a decline. The two-wheeler segment saw a 2.2% increase compared to May of the previous year, driven by a 7.1% rise in scooter sales. Motorcycles remained steady, but mopeds saw a decrease. Despite a 2.0% drop in domestic sales, three-wheeler production increased by 10.6% and exports climbed by 29.6%. Industry analysts anticipate a positive outlook, supported by recent RBI repo rate cuts and forecasts of favorable monsoons, which are expected to enhance affordability and boost consumer confidence. Key contributors to passenger vehicle sales included Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. and Hyundai Motor India Ltd. In the Utility Vehicles category, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. reported combined sales of 84,226 units and 110,757 units, respectively, for April-May 2025-26.
