A SpiceJet flight passenger endured an unexpected ordeal when they were trapped in the lavatory for the duration of a Mumbai to Bengaluru flight. The incident, which occurred on a recent flight, saw the passenger locked in the toilet due to a malfunctioning door lock. The airline has since apologized and reportedly offered compensation to the affected passenger. The event has sparked widespread amusement and disbelief online.
The passenger was finally freed after the plane landed at Bengaluru airport. Ground staff and engineers promptly responded, forcibly opening the toilet door after the flight touched down. The incident reportedly took place on a Monday night. The Mumbai-Bengaluru flight was delayed by two hours, departing at 2:10 AM instead of the scheduled 10:55 PM.
The passenger, seated in seat 14D, entered the restroom shortly after takeoff. They were unable to exit due to the jammed door lock. The crew attempted to unlock the door, but to no avail. As a temporary solution, the crew slipped a handwritten note under the door, advising the passenger to remain seated on the toilet seat until the plane landed in Bengaluru.
The crew’s note, which was shared on social media, quickly went viral. Many found the message amusing, while others complimented the handwriting. The flight landed in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM, and the door was subsequently opened by an airport engineer. The airline has expressed regret and issued an apology to the passenger.
