A SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru witnessed an unusual event when a passenger found himself confined within the aircraft’s lavatory for the duration of the flight. The airline has extended an apology and reportedly offered a refund to the affected passenger. The incident has generated considerable discussion and amusement.
The passenger was finally freed after the flight landed at Bengaluru airport. Ground staff and engineers promptly intervened to unlock the malfunctioning toilet door.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday night. The flight, initially scheduled to depart at 10:55 PM, took off from Mumbai Airport at 2:10 AM. A passenger, seated in seat 14D, entered the restroom shortly after takeoff and became trapped when the door lock failed. The crew attempted to unlock the door, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
To comfort the distressed passenger, the crew slipped a handwritten note under the door, advising the passenger to remain seated on the toilet until the plane landed in Bengaluru. The note, and the entire situation, quickly went viral. The flight touched down in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM. Airport engineers subsequently opened the door. SpiceJet has since expressed regret for the incident and apologized to the passenger for the inconvenience.
