Exports of the Suzuki Jimny commenced five months after its launch, reaching markets in Latin America and the Middle East. It also saw strong demand in Mexico, Australia, and South Africa. Production of the three-door Jimny for export has continued since 2020, with manufacturing taking place at Suzuki’s Gurgaon plant in Haryana. While the Jimny’s performance in India has been moderate, it has garnered significant interest in Japan, where it’s known as the ‘Nomade.’ Following its debut, Suzuki received 50,000 pre-orders, necessitating a temporary halt to bookings. A batch of Suzuki Jimnys has been provided to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). They will be utilized in challenging conditions along the borders of Arunachal Pradesh and Leh Ladakh. The Jimny is designed to withstand temperatures as low as -45 degrees Celsius, with low and high-range gearboxes that enable it to traverse difficult terrains. Featuring a 4×4 powertrain and an AllGrip 4WD system, the Jimny offers 2WD-high, 4WD High, and 4WD low capabilities. It also incorporates a three-link rigid axle suspension. The Jimny is powered by a 1.5-liter engine producing 105 BHP and 134Nm of torque, which, combined with the vehicle’s light body, enhances its off-road capability. Prices start at Rs 12.76 lakh and go up to Rs 14.97 lakh. The Jimny’s compact size and light weight make it a superior off-road vehicle despite its competitors.
