Tata Motors, the leading electric car seller in India, has updated its affordable electric car, the Tata Punch EV, with fast charging capabilities. The company has also announced new color options for the car, introducing Pure Grey and Supernova Copper. Notably, the Tata Punch EV can gain a range of 90 kilometers with just a 15-minute charge, an amount of time comparable to that spent enjoying a cup of tea at a charging station.
Following the update, the Tata Punch EV now supports fast charging. This electric car can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in only 40 minutes. Tata states that the Punch EV can be charged for a 90-kilometer range in 15 minutes using a 50-kilowatt DC fast charger. However, fast charging is exclusively available on the long-range variant of the model.
**Battery and Range**
The Tata Punch EV comes in two battery pack options. The mid-range version features a 25 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 265 km on a single charge. The long-range version has a 35 kWh battery, with a range of up to 365 km on a single charge. The mid-range model has a single electric motor that delivers 80 bhp of power and 114 Nm of torque. The long-range model boasts a more powerful motor, producing 120 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. This electric SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.5 seconds and has a top speed of 140 km/h.
**Impressive Features**
The Punch EV is equipped with various features, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also features a digital console, an air purifier, a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, and an electric sunroof. In terms of safety, it includes 6 airbags, ESP, an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function, and other safety features.
