Building on the success of the TVS Ntorq 125 and the rising demand for sporty scooters among youth, TVS has launched the all-new TVS Ntorq 150. This scooter boasts a larger and more powerful engine compared to the Ntorq 125, along with a fresh, modern design. Available in two variants, the scooter has a starting price of ₹1.19 lakh and a top-spec TFT variant priced at ₹1.29 lakh ex-showroom. Notably, it offers four dual-tone color options.
**Design**
The Ntorq 150 features a modern and sharp design, specifically targeted at youth. The scooter’s design is likely to appeal to many, with its attractive front appearance. Color options include Turbo Blue, Stealth Silver, Racing Red, and Nitro Green. The scooter includes a quad-projector LED headlight setup, new stylish LED DRLs, LED taillights with a new “T” logo, painted 12-inch alloy wheels, winglets on the front for downforce, a short sporty exhaust, split grab rails, street-style handlebars, a 5-inch TFT display, and new switchgear.
**Specifications**
To maximize space utilization, TVS has incorporated a glove compartment and a retractable hook. The under-seat storage is 22 liters and includes a USB Type-A port, but lacks a boot light. Only half-face and small full-face helmets can fit. A surprising element is that this sporty scooter still features 12-inch wheels on both ends. The company explains that larger wheels would reduce the top speed, hence the decision to maintain 12-inch wheels. The Ntorq 150 has a wheelbase of 1,285 mm, similar to the Ntorq 125, which enhances handling. It also includes features such as a telescopic front fork, a mono-shock rear suspension, disc brakes with ABS at the front, drum brakes at the rear, and a parking brake.
**Features**
TVS has equipped a petrol scooter with a 5-inch TFT display, packed with features. The company claims it offers 22 segment-first features, making it more advanced than any scooter sold in India. It also includes 4G eSIM, providing various connected features. The screen comes with day and night themes and has auto-brightness.
Key features include a top-speed recorder, a 0-60 km/h timer, smartwatch connectivity with Alexa, Android, and Apple, crash alert, live vehicle tracking, last park location, weather updates, social media notifications, music control, call/SMS alerts, and turn-by-turn navigation. The TFT display is controlled by a 4-way navigation button on the left side. Both brake levers are adjustable.
**Engine and Power**
TVS claims a 0-60 km/h acceleration time of 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 104 km/h. However, during the drive, it reached 99-100 km/h. The new sporty scooter has a 149.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that generates 13 bhp of power and 14.2 Nm of torque. The exhaust note is powerful, but some vibration is noticeable at idle. Weighing only 115 kg, it is lighter than some 125cc scooters. It offers two riding modes: Street mode, which features an engine start/stop feature for better mileage, and Race mode, which offers more power and comes with the TVS iGO assist feature.
**Final View**
While opinions on the design may vary, the ride and handling are undeniably impressive. It offers great confidence during cornering. The braking is also swift and reliable. The front brake provides excellent grip, and the ABS prevents wheel lockup. However, some features are missing, such as keyless start, and self-canceling indicators. The under-seat space could be larger, and 14-inch tires might have been preferable to the 12-inch wheels. Nevertheless, the TVS Ntorq 150 is one of the most advanced and feature-loaded petrol scooters in India. If you seek a scooter with an aggressive look and a wealth of features, this could be an excellent choice.
