TVS is expanding its electric scooter offerings with a new EV model positioned below the iQube in its EV portfolio. The upcoming scooter, likely to be named the Orbiter, is slated for launch on August 28. This new product represents a fresh approach for TVS in the electric vehicle market.
The launch invites do not offer details about the scooter itself. The company is developing a straightforward, no-frills scooter design, potentially utilizing a hub-mounted motor to reduce costs. This new scooter will serve as an entry-level model in the TVS lineup. While the Orbiter name is favored, the company has also trademarked alternative names like EV One and O.
Considering the iQube’s multiple variants, the Orbiter is also expected to be offered in different versions. iQube pricing ranges from ₹1 lakh for the base 2.2 kWh variant to nearly ₹2 lakh for the top-spec 5.1 kWh version. Consequently, the Orbiter is anticipated to be priced lower, featuring a smaller battery, simpler components, and fewer features.
Government incentives are stimulating EV adoption, prompting manufacturers like TVS to introduce models across diverse price points to cater to a broader audience.
