TVS has launched its new electric vehicle, the Orbiter, positioning it below the iQube in its EV lineup. The launch event showcased the Orbiter’s design, emphasizing its innovative features and range capabilities. The scooter incorporates an IP67-certified traction motor and battery. The Orbiter’s design stands out with a flat floor for added comfort and an extended seat for a relaxed riding experience. The scooter is available in six vibrant colors: Neon Sunburst, Stratos Blue, Lunar Grey, Stellar Silver, Cosmic Titanium, and Martian Copper. It features a high-mounted headlamp cluster with integrated daytime running lights (DRL) in the front apron. For comfort, the Orbiter includes an 845 mm flat seat and offers 169 mm of ground clearance, riding on 14-inch wheels. The scooter offers 34 liters of under-seat storage and an additional 290 mm of usable space on the flat footboard. The Orbiter is the segment’s first scooter to include cruise control, with safety checks for rider protection, a USB charging port, and automated hill assist. The Orbiter is expected to offer a range of approximately 158 km on a single full charge. It features a connected cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, offering features such as live location tracking, anti-theft towing alerts, updates on nearby charging stations, and vehicle health status. A motor cut-off safety system prevents acceleration in case of a fall. The 158 km range is provided by a 3.1 kWh battery pack. A 94 km range is also available with a 2.2 kWh battery pack. The Orbiter is priced at ₹99,000 (ex-showroom, Bangalore) and can be booked through TVS’s official website. The Orbiter’s specifications are compared with the Honda Activa-E, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Suzuki e-Access in a table.
