The MPV segment in India, once dominated by models like the Ertiga and XL6, is seeing a surge in new entrants. Brands like Kia, with its Carens and upcoming Clavis, are driving this growth, particularly in the under-15 lakh price range. Several automakers are planning to launch new MPVs, including the Kia Clavis EV, MG M9, and a Nissan Compact MPV. The Kia Clavis EV, expected to launch soon, will likely feature exterior and interior upgrades and potentially share its powertrain with the Creta Electric, offering a range exceeding 450km with two battery options. It is expected to include a large touchscreen infotainment system and advanced safety features. MG is also preparing to launch the all-electric M9 Luxury MPV, available in three colors. The M9, designed to compete with the Kia Carnival, will have a 90kWh battery delivering 245 BHP and 350Nm of torque, with an estimated range of 430km, and a starting price of around Rs 60 Lakh. The Nissan Compact MPV, a badge-engineered version of the Renault Kiger, is also in the works. This 7-seater MPV will be based on the CMF-A+ architecture and powered by 1.0-liter petrol engines.
