VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has entered the Indian market with the launch of its VF6 and VF7 models. The introductory prices are set at Rs 16.49 lakh and Rs 20.89 lakh, respectively. This launch positions VinFast to compete with established automakers like Maruti Suzuki India Ltd and Tata Motors Ltd, as well as Chinese and other Asian rivals. The CEO of VinFast, announced that the vehicles, produced with a ‘Made in India’ badge, are intended for distribution across South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Bookings for the VF6 and VF7 commenced in July with a token amount of Rs 21,000. The company has partnered with 13 dealer groups to establish 32 dealerships across 27 cities. VinFast aims to expand its dealership network to 35 locations by the end of 2025, strengthening its presence in the Indian EV market. The VF6 Earth trim is priced at 16,49,000 and features a 59.6 KWH battery. The VF6 Wind is priced at 17,79,000 and features a 59.6 KWH battery. The VF6 Wind Infinity is priced at 18,29,000 and features a 59.6 KWH battery. The VF7 Earth is priced at 20,89,000 and features a 59.6 KWH battery. The VF7 Wind is priced at 23,49,000 and features a 70.8 kWH battery. The VF 7 Wind Infinity is priced at 23,99,000 and features a 70.8 kWH battery. The VF7 SKY is priced at 24,99,000 and features a 70.8 kWH battery. The Vf 7 Sky Infinity is priced at 25,49,000 and features a 70.8 kWH battery. A comparison with other EV vehicles shows a range of 468 km and 450km respectively, acceleration times of nine seconds, and the same charging time of 8 hours. The VF6 is a worthy competitor to the Hyundai Creta EV as well as the MG Windsor.
