Volkswagen is preparing to launch a mid-life update for the Taigun SUV, based on reports and spy shots. This will be the first major facelift since the SUV’s launch in September 2021. The updated Taigun, expected to debut in 2026, will feature design and cosmetic changes. It will compete with popular SUVs in the Indian market, including the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and Kia Seltos.
The Taigun facelift is expected to retain the existing engine options. These include a 1.0-liter TSI engine, likely paired with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options. A 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine, producing 147 hp and 250 Nm of torque, will also be available.
The front of the updated Taigun will showcase a redesigned grille and LED setup. Spy photos suggest the facelift will incorporate the brand’s new design language, inspired by the Taigun R-Line. The rear of the car is likely to feature new tail lamps and other design elements.
While major changes are expected at the front and rear, the side profile of the Volkswagen Taigun facelift will likely remain similar to the current model. It will retain features such as body-colored door handles, roof rails, and blacked-out B-pillars.
In terms of features, the Volkswagen Taigun facelift draws inspiration from the Tiguan R-Line, with a similar dashboard, interior design, and screen. The brand may update the Taigun facelift with ADAS features, which are not available in the current model. This update would allow it to compete more effectively with rivals like the Hyundai Creta, MG Astor, and Kia Sonet.
