Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav narrowly avoided serious injury in a car accident early Saturday morning. A speeding truck crashed into two vehicles within his convoy near Goraul in Vaishali district. The incident occurred as Yadav was returning to Patna after a political rally in Madhepura.
The convoy had paused for a brief tea break around 12:30 AM on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway. While Tejashwi Yadav was a short distance away, enjoying his tea, the out-of-control truck slammed into the stationary security vehicles. Fortunately, his personal vehicle was untouched, and he was unharmed.
However, the impact resulted in injuries to three security personnel, who were promptly transported to a nearby hospital. Tejashwi Yadav visited them after the accident, expressing concern for their well-being. The injured officials are now reported to be in stable condition, despite suffering from significant bruises and minor fractures.
The local police immediately apprehended the truck driver and took the vehicle into custody. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, with initial reports suggesting possible factors such as speeding or driver fatigue, though a thorough investigation is underway.
This incident has reignited concerns about the safety of political figures during long-distance travel on Bihar’s roads, particularly during late-night hours. RJD supporters took to social media to express relief at Yadav’s safety, while others called for increased road safety measures and improved traffic rule enforcement.
Party leaders have called for a comprehensive review of VIP security protocols, especially regarding road travel in conditions of poor visibility and potential traffic violations.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his active political schedule and frequent travel throughout Bihar, has resumed his routine and assured his supporters of his well-being.
