Airspace Restrictions Between India and Pakistan Remain Amid Tensions

Islamabad – The latest amendment to Pakistan's air‑navigation notice confirms that the restriction on Indian aircraft will stay effective until the end of November 2026. Both civilian carriers and military jets are subject to the same limitation, which is applicable across the Karachi and Lahore flight information regions.

The ban, first imposed on 23 April 2025 after a terror attack in Jammu‑Kashmir's Pahalgam district, has been repeatedly renewed by both capitals. India responded with a mirror ban on Pakistani airlines on 30 April 2025, and neither side has signalled a near‑term easing of the measures.

Historical precedents show that such airspace closures are not new; similar actions were taken after the 1999 Kargil conflict and the 2019 Pulwama incident. The current stalemate reflects the broader diplomatic deadlock that has persisted since the April 2025 strike.
