EU International Partnerships Talk Covers Connectivity and Green Shipping

In a separate engagement on the same day, Jaishankar met with EU International Partnerships Commissioner Josef Sika. The discussion spanned several priority areas, including digital connectivity, a three‑way partnership involving India, the Middle East and Europe, and the India‑Middle‑East‑Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).

A key focus was on green shipping initiatives, where both parties examined ways to decarbonise maritime transport through the adoption of low‑sulphur fuels and emerging emission‑reduction technologies. The conversation also touched upon expanding railway and logistics links under the IMEC framework to boost trade flows.

Jaishankar posted a short note on X, expressing optimism about the prospects for deeper cooperation in connectivity and sustainable shipping. The EU official responded positively, indicating that forthcoming EU programmes could provide financial instruments to support these projects.

These talks reinforce the momentum generated by the historic India‑EU summit held earlier this year, signalling a continued commitment to translate diplomatic agreements into concrete, market‑driven outcomes.
